I haven’t been as quick to update things as I’d like to have been. Partly because I’ve been pretty busy plus I haven’t had been in the mood to write much lately. Writing is a fleeting thing for me. Sometimes I can write all day other days it’s a chore just to get a few emails out.
This summer, like most previous, didn’t turn out how I wanted it to on the exercise front. I did less than I should have. For a couple reasons; The weather just wasn’t cooperative for the most part. It would be nice all day I’d get ready to walk and it’d be threatening rain. Bears, bears, and more bears. I’ve seen more bears this season on my walk than all other seasons combined everyone is talking about bear activity around town. I know what everyone says they’re more afraid of you than you are of them but I’m not going to take my chances. I see a bear I’m heading back home and not walking for a few days.
That being said I did pick up some physical work (mowing, raking, etc) in July and August which isn’t charted on Map My Walk but still exercise.
August was abysmal at 7 miles mostly due to weather and bears.
September is shaping up to be good. The weather is a little better and I’ve already done 7 miles. The trouble is the lack of walking in August knocked down my endurance significantly. I’m doing a 1-1.5 miles per walk which isn’t great but it’s a start. By the end of September I want to be back up at the 3 mile mark.
October is when it starts getting a lot colder in this neck of the woods and daylight is more limited. My plan is to walk mid-morning or early afternoon depending on my work schedule.
I do have to figure something out for the winter. I’m not a big fan of walking in the cold plus the snow covered shoulder isn’t very safe to walk on when coupled with slippery roads could equal a flattened fat guy!
